DO NOT WORK WITH KURTIS KITCHEN AND BATH! I had the great misfortune of thinking that working with Kurtis Kitchen and Bath would provide a new kitchen with beautiful finishes. I can only say that the job never seemed to finish and it didn’t without consulting an attorney. Everything was delayed. The design specifications took 4 months to be done…AFTER I had paid 1/3 down. Construction was not scheduled until 2 months after design completion and signing all the contracts. I was told that the large job would take 2 months and it was not complete for 6 months; all that time I was without a working cooktop and only one of 2 sinks installed. I had asked for specific material to be used and was naïve enough to think that the materials in the contracts were as I asked. When I found, at the time of placement, that the materials were not what I wanted (but had signed for on the contracts because I assumed erroneously that they were what I had consistently requested). I had to pay again to have the new counter tops removed and replaced with the material I had originally requested. They made a mess of my house over and over, left drawers stacked on the dining room floor, in fact, the new cooktop was sitting on the kitchen floor for more than a month until I could get a neighbor to help put it up on the island cabinets to get it out of my way and, once it was installed, it did not work and required repair by a factory authorized repair person. The dust was overwhelming and I had to bring in a cleaning crew twice to be able to clean my furniture, walls and ceilings. The island had no counter top for 5 months, only open cabinets so I could not put anything in the cabinets. Meal preparation was difficult without a working kitchen. Once they had my money, workmen showed up only sporadically and there would be pauses of 2-3 weeks with no one on site. If you have the grave misfortune to work with them, read every contract in detail and verify on the internet that the material you want, the cabinets you request are actually what is being provided. Get them to give you a completion date in writing. Have a good attorney.
